EFI ECU tuning - Why tune your outboard?

EFI stands for Electronic Fuel Injection. Essentially, all modern outboards rely on an ECU, a computer, to manage the engine. This allows manufacturers to implement certain engineering solutions, often making minimal variations in engine blocks, pistons, and valves - sometimes none at all. They typically de-tune the lower horsepower models and only make slight hardware adjustments for these more affordable options. Additionally, many outboards are designed to run on 87 octane gas, providing room for enhanced power output.


Why tune your outboard, with our service? It is the easy and smart way to get more power. It is literally cheaper than buying the factory tuned model, cheaper than buying a new ECU - cheaper than competitor tuning offerings.


We always deliver the results we promise - in case you are not 100% happy, you get a full refund, including shipping.  If for whatever reason you are not comfortable with taking out your ECU and sending it in, contact us and if you are in BC, Canada, we might be able to assist you on-site.


How does it work? We provide you with instructions on how to detach your outboard ECU, often simply unclicking it, securely package it, and send it to us. Once we confirm receipt, we'll make a copy of your factory tune data, tune the ECU to your requested horsepower gains, conduct testing, and then return it to you - you click the ECU back in place, take out the air restrictor and enjoy more power on the water!

Outboard EFI Tuning Prices - Immediate Gains

Tohatsu 9.9hp and 15hp to 20hp tunes

$500 CAD + shipping back to you. Note that the Tohatsu 9.9, 15, and 20 hp all share the exact same hardware, including the block, pistons, and valves. Everything is adjusted through the tuning of the outboard ECU along with a few simple instructions, to un-restrict airflow, that we send to you. We encourage you to compare our EFI tuning service with others available in the US, who typically charge around $600 US + shipping for similar tuning services, easily adding up to much more. Additionally, you receive a $200 credit for future tunes on the same platform, for example, if you want to upgrade to 25hp for a bigger boat using the same outboard.

Tohatsu 9.9, 15, 20hp models - tuned to 25hp - custom tune

$600 CAD + shipping back to you, as a bit more research and testing has gone into this. With our tuning solutions, it is possible to safely exceed the factory tune of 20 hp for this block. We carefully perform EFI tuning and test on our own hardware to ensure that you are safe on the water. For optimal results, use 89 octane gas with this tune. It’s perfect for launching up on plane in no time, or you can install a higher pitch propeller to cruise quietly at lower RPM.

Tohatsu bigger outboards, 40 to 145hp - custom tune

Please reach out to us, and we will get back to you shortly. These EFI tuning services are currently in the Beta stage, and while we do offer this, it's important to note that these outboards are not exactly the same in hardware in the horsepower range (unlike the 9.9, 15, and 20hp outboards). Therefore, we develop fully custom engineering solutions to reliably pull more power from these outboards. There are huge gains to be had, but do expect to use 89 octane gas for the higher horsepower tunes.

Suzuki EFI models tuning - 9.9, 15 hp to 20 hp

$500 CAD + shipping back to you. Similar to other medium range hp outboards, Suzuki also use the exact same hardware for these models, and can be tuned to higher output versions. Send us a message with your outboard specs, year, and model, and we will get back to you promptly. We offer competitive pricing similar to that of other outboard brands, but with custom outboard EFI tuning. 

Suzuki EFI models tuning - 9.9, 15, 20 hp to 25 hp

$600 CAD + shipping back to you - as a bit more research and testing has gone into this. With our tuning solutions, it is possible to safely exceed the factory tune of 20 hp for this block. We carefully perform EFI tuning and test on our own hardware to ensure that you are safe on the water. For optimal results, use 89 octane gas with this tune. Suzuki EFI DFxxA tuning - 40 hp to 50 or 60hp

$600 CAD + shipping back to you. We are able to offer tuning for the Suzuki DF40A / DF50A models all the way to 60hp, completely safe and within hardware specs. You might want to upgrade your propeller, to cruise faster at lower rpm.

Mercury EFI 9.9, 15 to 20 - 25hp

Mercury 9.9, 15 and 20hp EFI models are actually Tohatsu outboards, with a Mercury cowl and tiller! Reach out to us, and we will help you out.

There are plenty of tuning outfits who will overwrite your ECU with old versions of the entire memory - do not be fooled, as they are not true tuners with any real understanding, but simply shops using stolen dealer cables.
