EFI ECU tuning - How Does it Work
A lot goes into delivering a solid tune. EFI stands for Electronic Fuel Injection. Essentially, all modern outboards rely on an ECU, a computer, to manage the engine. This allows manufacturers to implement certain engineering solutions, often making minimal variations in engine blocks, pistons, and valves - sometimes none at all. They typically de-tune the lower horsepower models and only make slight hardware adjustments for these more affordable options. Additionally, many outboards are designed to run on 87 octane gas, providing room for enhanced power output.
We research and develop methods to deliver upgraded tuning data to your outboard's ECU, along with easy steps to un-restrict airflow. While there's much more involved than can be detailed here, we can offer these outboard tuning solutions at a low price to you.
How does it work? We provide you with instructions on how to detach your outboard ECU, securely package it, and send it to us. Once we confirm receipt, we'll make a copy of your factory tune data, tune the ECU to your requested horsepower gains, conduct testing, and then return it to you - you click the ECU back in place, take out the air restrictor and enjoy more power on the water!
